Ingredients

For the Chicken Teriyaki

500 g chicken breast fillet, sliced into strips
3 Tablespoon(s) teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 Tablespoon(s) soy sauce
2 Tablespoon(s) honey or agave syrup
1 Tablespoon(s) sesame oil
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 piece of ginger (about 2 cm), grated
1 Tablespoon(s) cornstarch (optional, for a thicker sauce)
1 Tablespoon(s) water (optional, for cornstarch)

For the Rice and Broccoli

200 g rice (e.g., jasmine or basmati rice)
300 g broccoli, cut into florets
1 l water (for cooking the rice)
Salt to taste

Preparation

  • Preparation time: 15 min
  • Cooking time: 30 min
  • Total time: 45 min

Prepare the Chicken Teriyaki

1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the marinated chicken until cooked through and lightly browned (about 8-10 minutes).
3. Optional: For a thicker sauce, dissolve cornstarch in water and add it to the chicken. Bring to a boil until the sauce thickens.

Prepare the Rice and Broccoli

1. In a pot, bring 1 L of water and a pinch of salt to a boil. Add the rice and reduce the heat to low, simmering for 15-20 minutes until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
2. In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and steam the broccoli for about 5 minutes until tender but still crisp.

Serve

1. Plate the rice, top with the chicken teriyaki, and garnish with steamed broccoli. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired and serve.
